A Brief History of Blow by Blow Boxing Show:
In the first version where the show started back in 1994, Vintage Sports had the production rights of this show and it used to go live on various TV channels of that time like PTV and OBC TV. Mostly the upcoming talent and promising boxers of that era used to appear as a guest on the Blow by Blow Show and share their thoughts and stories of their career. But due to some technical faults, the TV program was closed in 1999.
The program is typically recorded in small places like gyms in Metro Manila where local boxing matches are played. The show was popular as it used to highlight the real-life struggle of the boxers and a complete insight into their training and schedule. Furthermore, the show was also recorded often in Parañaque or Mandaluyong.
The show is also popular as it used to air the early fights of the legendary boxer Manny Pacquiao. The Pacman later ruled the world with his top-notch boxing skills and only player to win championships in 8 different weight divisions. Currently, he has become an integral part of this show and it is aired under his production banner.
When did the show come on Television?
The program made a comeback on December 13, 2015, and was shown every Sunday afternoon on TV5. Manny Pacquiao, a boxer featured in Blow by Blow, along with Sports5, Manny Piñol (a former vice governor and boxing analyst), and boxing promoters Gerry Garcia and Lito Mondejar, led the return of the show.
In this show, the format was kept quite similar to the old version of the show and it was recorded in smaller towns and used to broadcast amateur boxers fighting in the country. However, this show lasted for only one year and due to some unknown reasons, this show was called off.
Once again on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the Grand Summit Hotel, Pacquiao, through his MP Promotions, brought back the show, but this time it's on the One Sports channel. Currently, this show airs amateur boxing fights and is an amazing platform for the youth of the Philippines who want to pursue their career in boxing.
