Calvin Abueva returned from a one-game suspension and made a significant impact for Magnolia in the PBA Philippine Cup. His performance helped lead the Hotshots to a 104-97 victory over NorthPort and with this it also ended their opponent's four-game winning streak.

Despite playing less than 30 minutes, Abueva contributed 6 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals. According to the PBA News 2024, Ian Sangalang has made a great comeback to top form for the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots in the PBA Philippine Cup. He successfully defeated the thyroid illness that sidelined him last year. On his return to Magnolia Rostert, Sangalang scored a career-high 32 points with 13 rebounds against NorthPort that helped his team Magnolia end a two-game losing streak.

In another game, he contributed 23 points, nine rebounds, and five assists as Magnolia defeated Phoenix and took his team to the top of the table in the PBA Standings. Sangalang's determination earned him an award as the PBA Press Corps-Pilipinas Live Player of the Week for his exceptional performances.

Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots which was formerly known as Purefoods Hotdogs, is a highly successful team in the history of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Since its debut in 1988, the team has secured an impressive 14 championship titles.

Owned by San Miguel Food and Beverage, Inc. which is a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation, Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots shares ownership with two other PBA teams - San Miguel Beerman and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

Initially, this team was very popular under the moniker Purefoods, the team's success on the court contributed a lot to its fame in the current scene of basketball in the Philippines. Today, Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots dons jerseys in amazing colors like Yellow, White, and Blue.

The Magnolia Hotshots have consistently performed very well in the PBA ever since their inception in the league.
