Philippines Cup 2024 Format

Here is the format of the ongoing 2024 PBA Philippine Cup that will help you understand how the tournament will move ahead and how the games will be played according to certain rules.

  • The Philippine Cup begins with all the teams competing in a first round to determine their rankings.
  • After the first-round matches, the top 8 teams will progress to the quarterfinals.
  • In the quarterfinals, the teams ranked first and second receive a "twice-to-beat" advantage. This means that the teams ranked 7th and 8th must defeat them twice to move on, while the top-ranked teams only need to win once.
  • The 3rd to 6th-ranked teams face each other in the quarterfinals as well, with the third seed playing the sixth seed, and the fourth seed playing the fifth seed, in a best-of-three series.
  • The winners of these quarterfinal matches then move forward to the semifinals. These semi-finals are played in a best-of-seven series.
  • Finally, the 2 teams that win their semifinal series reach the finals, also in a best-of-seven series, to determine the champion of the Philippine Cup.

Games are scheduled on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with additional out-of-town games on Saturdays. This Cup is part of the PBA's effort to return to its traditional format and includes playing triple headers on game days to fast-track the eliminations.
