2023 Govs Cup: TNT Tropang Giga Holds Solo Lead After Week 4

PBA Recap on week 4! Tied in the third and fourth spots are the NLEX Road Warriors and the Converge FiberXers with an identical 5-2 win-loss record. In the fifth spot is the defending champions, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel with a 4-2 standing.

At the sixth and seventh spot are the Magnolia Hotshots and the Meralco Bolts with an identical 3-3 win-loss record, while the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters settle at the eighth spot with a 2-4 record.

The Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters and the TerraFirma Dyip are statistically tied at the ninth and tenth spot with a 2-5 win-loss record, followed by Blackwater Bossing in the 11th spot with a 1-7 standing.

The NorthPort Batang Pier remains the cellar-dweller with a win-loss 0-6 standing.

Here's what happened during the fourth week of the 2023 PBA Governors Cup.

PBA Recap: NorthPort Batang Pier vs San Miguel Beermen

After their loss against the Converge FiberXers, the San Miguel Beermen went back into the winning column after defeating the NorthPort Batang Pier, 145-132, on Wednesday, February 15.

San Miguel Beermen import Cameron Clark erupted for 44 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists while June Mar Fajardo made sure to contribute a double-double performance with 29 points and 12 rebounds.

Jaymar Perez added 24 points and five rebounds while Vic Manuel and Marcio Lassiter combined for 28 points, while Lassiter also dished seven assists.

For the side of the NorthPort Batang Pier, import Kevin Murphy had another double-double performance with 39 points and 13 rebounds while Arvin Tolentino erupted from the bench with 32 points and five rebounds.

Robert Bolick also had a double-double performance with 16 points and 10 assists while John Michael Calma and Paul Christian Zamar combined for 25 points and 13 rebounds.

PBA Recap: Blackwater Bossing vs TNT Tropang Giga

The TNT Tropang Giga continued their win streak against the Blackwater Bossing, 138-116 on Wednesday, February 15.

Longtime Philippine national men’s basketball team member Roger Pogoy erupted for 40 points and nine rebounds, while their new import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson recorded 37 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists in his debut in the PBA.

The trio of Marcus Williams, Glenn Khobuntin, and Calvin Oftana added 38 points to provide much-needed support for Roger Pogoy and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.

On the side of the Blackwater Bossing, import Troy Williams had a bad night with 22 points, eight rebounds, and six assists while team captain JVee Casion scored 21 points.

RK Ilagan and Tyrus Hill provided the spark off Blackwater’s bench, combining for 31 points and eight assists while Rashawn Mccarthy added 11 points.

PBA Recap: NLEX Road Warriors vs Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots

After losing their first three games, the Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots are now on a three-game win streak as they defeated the NLEX Road Warriors, 119-103, on Thursday, February 16.

Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots import Antonio Hester recorded 37 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists while Paul Lee had 18 markers.

Jio Jalalon almost had a triple-double with 17 points, nine rebounds, and 12 assists while team captain Andy Mark Barroca and Aris Dionisio contributed 13 points apiece off the bench.

Calvin Abueva scored 10 points and eight rebounds in Magnolia’s third win in six games.

For the NLEX Road Warriors, import Wayne Anthony Selden, Jr. had a bad night, scoring just 25 points, four rebounds, and nine assists while Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser contributed 20 points and seven rebounds.

Kris Rosales added 19 points and seven assists while Celedonio Trollano contributed 16 points and seven assists. Off the bench, team captain Kevin Alas recorded 15 points.

PBA Recap: Rain or Shine Elasto Painters vs TerraFirma Dyip

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters recorded with the second victory after barely escaping the TerraFirma Dyip, 120-118, on Thursday, February 16.

With their import Greg Smith II out due to clearance issues, Andrei Caracut provided the scoring stream for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters with 25 points while Leonard Santillan recorded 21 points, including the game-winning shot, and six rebounds.

Longtime Philippine national men’s basketball member Gabe Norwood contributed 18 points and five rebounds from the bench while Rey Nambatac and Anton Asistio contributed for 24 points, five rebounds, and eight assists.

Rain or Shine Elasto Painters import Greg Smith II failed to secure an international basketball clearance from the Dominican Republic where he last played prior to returning to the PBA.

On the side of the TerraFirma Dyip, Jordan Williams had another double-double with 30 points and 16 rebounds while Juami Tiongon added 23 points in a losing effort.

Eric Camson was hot off the bench with 14 points and six rebounds while team captain Alex Cabagnot and Paul Cahilig both had 13 points apiece.

PBA Recap: Barangay Ginebra San Miguel vs San Miguel Beermen

In the battle of the sister teams, the San Miguel Beermen won against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 102-99, on Friday, February 17.

San Miguel Beermen import Cameron Clark had another double-double performance with 35 points and 10 rebounds while Jaymar Perez contributed 20 points and seven rebounds.

San Miguel Beermen center June Mar Fajardo also had another double-double performance with 12 points and 18 rebounds while Vic Manuel scored 10 points off the bench.

On the side of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, three players had a double-double performance – Christian Standhardinger with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists, import Justin Brownlee with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists, and Scottie Thompson with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Jonathan Gray provided the spark off the bench of the Barangay Ginebra with 14 points and five rebounds.

PBA Recap: TNT Tropang Giga vs Meralco Bolts

The TNT Tropang Giga recorded their seventh victory at the expense of the Meralco Bolts, 111-104, on Friday, February 17.

TNT Tropang Giga import Rondae Jaquan Hollis-Jefferson had a double-double performance with 34 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists while Marcus Williams contributed 25 points and five rebounds.

Calvin Oftana and William Jayson Castro provided the off-the-bench support for the TNT Tropang Giga, combining for 35 points and nine rebounds.

For the side of the Meralco Bolts, import KJ Mcdaniels had another double-double performance but was just limited to 26 points and 15 rebounds. 

Norman Aaron Black also had a double-double with 21 points and eight rebounds while Chris Newsome contributed 20 points.

Allein Maliksi and Chris Banchero had 11 points apiece as the Meralco Bolts absorbed their third loss in six games.

PBA Recap: Converge FiberXers vs NLEX Road Warriors

After their back-to-back loss against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots, the NLEX Road Warriors returned to the winning column as they defeated the Converge FiberXers, 116-112, on Saturday, February 18.

NLEX Road Warriors import Wayne Anthony Selden, Jr. scored 25 points, seven rebounds, and a sixth assist while team captain Kevin Alas erupted for 31 points off the bench.

Kris Rosaldo also contributed 17 points while Anthony Semerad added 16 points. Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser had 10 points and seven rebounds.

For the side of the Converge FiberXers, import Jamaal Franklin was the lone bright spot for his team with a double-double performance of 52 points and 11 rebounds in a losing effort.

Maverick Ahanmisi recorded 22 points and six rebounds while Kevin Racal had 10 points in a bad night for the Converge FiberXers.

PBA Recap: TerraFirma Dyip vs Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters

The Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters recorded their second win against the TerraFirma Dyip, 125-100, on Saturday, February 18.

Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters import Du’vaughn Maxwell was limited to 20 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists but he had help from Jason Perkins who scored 14 points and seven rebounds.

Off-the-bench players Javee Mocon, Encho Serrano, RR Garcia, and Sean Mangati combined for 46 points to support Du’vaughn Maxwell and Jason Perkins.

For the side of the TerraFirma Dyip, Juami Tiongson led the team with 27 points as their import Jordan Williams had a bad night, scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds.

TerraFirma Dyip team captain Alex Cabagnot had 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists while Eric Camson had 15 points off the bench.

PBA Recap: San Miguel Beermen vs TNT Tropang Giga

The TNT Tropang Giga recorded their eighth victory as they barely escaped the San Miguel Beermen, 105-103, on Sunday, February 19.

William Jayson Castro proved to be the spark off the bench with 21 points, five rebounds, and eight assists while Rondae Jaquan Hollis-Jefferson was limited to 19 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists.

Kelly Williams recorded 16 points while Calvin Oftana had a double-double performance with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists off the bench.

For the side of the San Miguel Beermen, import Cameron Clark had another double-double performance with 30 points and 11 rebounds while Jaymar Perez added 25 points and seven rebounds.

June Mar Fajardo also had a double-double performance in 28 minutes with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Jericho Cruz contributed 10 points.

PBA Recap: Blackwater Bossing vs Barangay Ginebra San Miguel

After their back-to-back losses against sister teams the Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots and the San Miguel Beermen, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel quickly bounced back at the expense of the Blackwater Bossing, 119-93, on Sunday, February 19.

Christian Standhardinger once against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s top scorer with 28 points, six rebounds, and five assists while Jamie Malonzo contributed 25 points and seven rebounds.

Import Justin Brownlee had another double-double performance with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.

For the side of the Blackwater Bossing, import Shawn Glover had a low double-double performance with just 14 points and 10 rebounds. Renato Ular, Baser Amer, and Yousef Taha had 12 points apiece while RK Ilagan contributed 11 points.
