2023 PBA Gov's Cup San Miguel, Converge, NLEX Leading Week 2

The San Miguel Beermen, Converge FiberXers, and the NLEX Road Warriors share the top stop after two weeks of the ongoing 2023 PBA Governors' Cup with all teams having a 4-0 win-loss record.

The top three undefeated teams are followed by the reigning champions, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, with 1-0 record. The Meralco Bolts and the TNT Tropang Giga are currently tied for the fifth and sixth spots with an identical 3-1 record.

At number seven is Terrafirma Dyip with a 1-2 record and rounding up the top eight teams is the Blackwater Bossing at 1-3. The Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters stayed at the ninth spot with a 1-4 record while the Magnolia Hotshots, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, and the NorthPort Batang Pier stand at the bottom with no wins.

Although the standing will surely be changed as the season progresses, here's the recap of the second week of the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup.

2023 PBA Gov's Cup PBA Recap: TNT Tropang Giga vs NLEX Road Warriors

The NLEX Road Warriors barely escaped the TNT Tropang Giga, 110-108, to give them their first-ever loss. NLEX Road Warriors import Jonathon Simmons erupted for a double-double performance with 45 points and 12 rebounds to keep their record spotless in four wins.

Sean Anthony had 15 points and six rebounds while captain Kevin Alas contributed 13 points. Anthony Paul Semerad had 10 points and eight rebounds to cap off the locals who scored double digits.

For the side of the TNT Tropang Giga, import Jalen Hudson had a double-double performance with 39 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists to lead his team in a losing effort. For the locals, Roger Pogoy had 21 points while Glenn Khobuntin and William Jayson Castro scored 10 points apiece.

2023 PBA Gov's Cup PBA Recap: Blackwater Bossing vs San Miguel Beermen

The San Miguel Beermen keep their record clean after defeating the Blackwater Bossing, 105-86. Jericho Cruz proved to be the spark off the bench as he scored team-high 22 points while import Cameron Clark had 20 points and nine rebounds.

June Mar Fajardo recorded another double-double performance with 17 points and 16 rebounds while Jaymar Perez and Marcio Lassiter combined for 27 points.

Meanwhile, Blackwater Bossing import Shawn Glover was limited to 16 points and 12 rebounds. Joshua Torralba had 11 points while RK Ilagan contributed 10 markers. Tyrus Hill, Yousef Taha, and Gabriel Banal scored eight points apiece as they slid to the eighth spot with a 1-3 record.

2023 PBA Gov's Cup PBA Recap: Rain or Shine Elasto Painters vs Converge FiberXers

The Converge FiberXers continue its undefeated streak against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 112-98. Import Jamaal Franklin had a rare triple-double with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 15 assists while Justin Arana contributed 21 points and eight rebounds from the bench.

Team captain Jeron Teng scored 17 points while starters Jerrick Balanza, Abu Tratter, and Alec June Stockton combined for 33 points.

For the side of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, import Michael Qualls was the lone bright spot with 34 points and nine rebounds. Rey Nambatac was the only local player to score in double digits with 16 points and six assists.

2023 PBA Gov's Cup PBA Recap: Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters vs NorthPort Batang Pier

The Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters tallied their first win against the winless NorthPort Batang Pier, 108-97. Import Du'vaughn Maxwell had a double-double performance with 26 points and 11 rebounds while Jason Perkins added 26 points and seven rebounds.

Team captain Rj Jazul scored 16 points while Sean Manganti had 13 markers. Tyler Tio was limited to eight points with 33% shooting efficiency.

For the NorthPort Batang Pier, import Marcus Weathers had 31 points and nine rebounds. Michael Kent Salado had 15 points while Arthur Dela Cruz, Jr. contributed 12 points.

2023 PBA Gov's Cup PBA Recap: Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots vs TNT Tropang Giga

After their loss to the NLEX Road Warriors, the TNT Tropang Giga quickly bounced back as they defeated the Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots, 93-85. Roger Pogoy scored team-high 20 points while import Michael Williams, Jalen Hudson, and Calvin Oftana had 14 points apiece.

Team captain Kelly Williams scored 11 points and seven rebounds while longtime Gilas Pilipinas member William Jayson Castro had nine points.

For the Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots, Paul Lee scored 24 points and seven rebounds while import Erik Mccree was limited to 12 points and 16 rebounds. Calvin Abueva also scored 12 points while Jio Jalalon contributed 10 points.

The San Miguel Beermen demolished the Terrafirma Dyip, 122-102. Import Cameron Clark had another double-double performance with 31 points and 14 rebounds while Jaymar Perez also had a double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.

Moala Tautuaa almost had a double-double with 17 points and eight rebounds while Allyn Bulanadi contributed 14 points.

For the Terrafirma Dyip, import Jordan William had 30 points and eight rebounds while Juami Tiongson added 20 points and four rebounds. Eric James Camson had 18 points and eight rebounds while team captain Alex Cabagnot scored 10.

2023 PBA Gov's Cup PBA Recap: Meralco Bolts vs Blackwater Bossing

The Meralco Bolts made quick work of the Blackwater Bossing, 125-99. Veteran Allen Maliksi had 30 points while import KJ McDaniels was limited to 24 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists.

Norman Aaron Black contributed for 19 points and seven assists while Antonio Jose Caram had 18 markers. Chris Newsome, who was rumored that will get traded to the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, scored 12 points.

For the Blackwater Bossing, import Shawn Glover was limited to just 20 points and seven rebounds while RK Ilagan scored 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Starters Baser Amer, JVee Casio, and Jeth Troy Rosario combined for 38 points.

The NLEX Road Warriors escaped the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, 98-94. Import Jonathon Simmons erupted for 38 points and seven rebounds while Anthony Semerad recorded 16 points and seven rebounds.

Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser had 14 points and six rebounds, while Celedonio Trollano scored 11 points and seven rebounds.

For the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, import Du'vaughn Maxwell had another double-double performance with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists in a losing effort. Jason Perkins also had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds while captain RJ Jazul contributed 13 points.

After a two-week break, the reigning champions Barangay Ginebra San Miguel had a hot start as they defeated the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 116-108. Justin Brownlee had a triple-double with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists while Japeth Aguilar added 18 points.

Scottie Thompson record 15 points, eight rebounds, and five steals while Jamie Malonzo and Stanley Pringle each scored 14 points. Nard John Pinto rounded up the locals who scored double digits with 12 points.

For the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, import Michael Qualls was limited to 23 points and five rebounds. Beau Belga scored 21 points while Rey Nambatac and James Yap combined for 29 points.

2023 PBA Gov's Cup PBA Recap: San Miguel Beermen vs Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots

In the battle of sister teams, the San Miguel Beermen barely escaped the Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots, 100-98. Calvin Abueva managed to trim the deficit to two, 98-100, with 18 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter but Paul Lee missed his three-point jump shot.

San Miguel Beermen import Cameron Clark had another double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Marcio Lassiter scored 18 points. Jaymar Perez had 17 points and six rebounds while June Mar Fajardo recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jericho Cruz and Simon Enciso combined for 25 points.

For the side of the Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots, Paul Lee led his team once again with 19 points while Jio Jalalon scored 17 points and seven rebounds. Import Erik Mccree was limited to 13 points and eight rebounds while team captain Andy Mark Barroca had 13 points and seven assists.

Games Preview: Manila Classico, and This Week's Schedule

In the third week of the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel will catch up with three games in a span of five days, finishing the week with Manila Classico as they face the Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots on Sunday, after the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters face off with the Blackwater Bossing.

On Wednesday, the Converger FiberXers will try to keep their record spotless as they take on the TNT Tropang Giga. The game will be followed by the NLEX Road Warriors and the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel matchup.

On Tuesday, the Blackwater Bossing will face the Terrafirma Dyip, followed by the Meralco Bolts-San Miguel Beermen match-up.

On Friday, the Magnolia Chicken Timplado Hotshots will take on the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, followed by the game between the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Northport Batang Pier.

On Saturday, the Terrafirma Dyip will face the TNT Tropang Giga, followed by the match between the two undefeated teams, the San Miguel Beerman and the Converge FiberXers.
